In BW 3.5 we had Infopackage to pull the data at all the
lavels, but now in BI 7.0 Infopackage pull the data only
till datasource/PSA from source thereafter we need to
create the transformation and DTP to pull the data.
So we can say that DTP is used to push the data from one
target to another data target.

In BI 7.0 DTP is used to transfer the data from one persistent object to another persistent object , for ex: Datasource to DSO, DSO to Infocube or Datasource to Infocube. and also we can use DTP between Infocube and Open hub destination to transfer the data to Table or file.

DTP stands for data transfering process, by using DTP We can
load the data from source to your destination. here source
is nothing but your datasource and destination is nothing
but your data target(cube,dso,multiprovider,infoset)

DTP is only for data distribution within BW system, this means data accessed by a DTP is already in BW system.

DTP is used to transfer data any where in bi to anywhere
i.e. psa to data target
