If u like to kill the job then go to.....
SM37->find the job->find job details->find out instance
number on which job is running.....then
SM51->select the job->select work pross->cancel without core

I Think you should follow step by step process>

1. Check the user and try to communicate with him because
you never know if it is an important job for some body like
redwood.

2. If the user is comfortable, try to find out the reason as
your job is trying to access any lick table or something...

3. If everything is clears to you should kill a job with
core as it will provide you a log for your future references
but if you are sitting at a client side, than its upto you
as most of the client always maintains logs.

Hi 123,
as Abrar said it is right.
we can kill a job with core n without core. The main
difference is that if u kill a job with Core, then it
creates a logfile in that u will get all the Job
information, when n why it was killed...n all that job
information can be seen in logfile is located in
usr/sap/sid/dvebmgs00/Background/work directory.

Praveen,

No user and business would like to schedule jobs which would
take so long time. Many times it happens due to wait time
for particular table exceeds or deadlock situations then
later you see no activity going in work process. So once
owner confirmed you that you need to cancel this job. First
of try check status of job in sm37. If job is already dead
if was just because Job status table tbtco was not updated.
If this does nto solve oyur problem check pid no from job
info go to sm50 then cancel to WP with out core.

And anlize the situation why it is taking much time...check
the program,job...it will be a performance issue if we are
not going to kill job

If a job running for more than 2 days and going to kill the
job, it is always better to kill the job with out core
because if we delete the job with core the log file will
generates at /sap/sid/dvebmgs00/Background/work and the
chances that your filesystem bacame full.

If you are unable to kill job with out core and killed as
with core then please delete the core file.

Hi,

If a BackGround job is runnning for 2 days then one can
stop BAck ground job with the help of "SMX" Tcode and can
schedule the job at any instance of time.
