HOW MANY EARTHINGS REQUIRED FOR GENERATER
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Two eathing are req. minimum. Since the star point is
earthing solidly, and obviously the generator frame/housing
also to be provided with earthing to prevent any shock due
to insulation failiure.
if the generator is connected with a fuel tank, (for higher
size), it is necessary that, fuel tank to be grounted to
prevent lightning surges and any static voltage generations.

depends on the rating of the generator upto 125kVA two
earthings is sufficient one is neutral and one for
body.>125kVA four erthins are required two for neutral and
two for body

The earthing of Generator at star point is depends on the capacity.
For larger generators eg:- 600MW generator the generator is grounded using NGT and generator body is grounded at two ends. Earthing are done at two ends to have redundancy only.

Answer / pankaj singh
there should be two earthing required.one for star point
and another for body. At the star point there should be a
solid grounding,on the other hand body frame should be
earth diagonally and the material for grounding depend on
the rated valtage of generator

Answer / bhasker reddy
Depends on the KVA rating of generator earthing are required.
less than 40 kva atlest 2 earthing(one neutral & one body earth). more than 40 KVA 4 earthing (2 neutral & 2 body earth). if KVA rating increased should increase earthing.

their are two system earthing at single voltage level in
generation one is generator neutral another one is PT
earthing and body earthing also provided

Answer / nagaraj u.n
2.( body or frame) earthing should be used.because in case
of 1st point is faild ,2nd point is worked .it safety for
generator & opperatore.
