tp and R3trans located in RUN Directory.

You can downloadn latest tp and R3trans versions
frommarketplace.
1. Download it
2. Uncar the Files
3. stop sap
4. stop oscol
5. copy and replace corresponding files in Run Directory.
6. Rstart sap
7. Check tp version

Better update the whole Kernel.

tp & r3trans are located in the run
directory.usr/sap/sid/sys/exe/run.all the executables
reside in the run directory.run directory is nothing but
kernal directory.if u upgrade the kernal directory all the
executables will get upgraded.u can also upgrade only tp &
r3trans.some prerequisites are there that u need to perform
before u do this.

tp and r3trans can be upgraded with kernel upgrade. as
Renjith Remanan said we can also upgrade them separately.
as naresh said we can also do tp and r3trans upgrade with
out restarting the system only when tp and r3trans were not
used by sap system at that point of time.otherwise we cannot
rename that . i think i concluded all the answers.

There is no need to stop sap nor oscol for tp and R3trans
upgradation.
Just rename old tp and Retrans exe files to .old files. And
copy the new files to Run Directory.

i thought tp and r3trans programs are stored in run
directory. so, you can update your kernal

tp and r3trans also available in usr/sap/trans/bin

HI,

We cannot upgrade TP but we can view logs of TP in the form
of Alog,Ulog and Slog.TP works only if RFC is configured on
SAP Application Server.

Hi it is just like applying support packs. Patches related
to tp and r3 trans are available in service market place
just download through downloadmanager to local machine and
ftp to the /usr/sap/trans/bin and got to spam in R3 level
and just apply the patches.

In sm51 screen what are the possibilities for status field? If the status is active then we can double click on the instance name to goto it's work process over view screen(sm50). but if the application server is down,will it still be displayed in the sm51 screen with status shutdown?if so,what happens if we double click on an instance name with status shutdown>will it still goto sm50 screen?what would be the workprocess status then?
