General Item category Group is an extension item category
group.
Example: if one select item catagory group as NORM, but
under item category group, NORM can further be classified
as Service item, packagaing item or Normal item
using "general item category group". General item category
group is maintained at client level, this field can be
maintain from Basic Data View of Material Master. Thus in
case item category group is missing, then general item
category group is used for item category determination.

Item category group determines how a material is processed
in the sales order. When processing sales and distribution
documents, the system uses the item category group to
determine the item category and proposes it in the
respective document. Item category group is defined in the
Sales Org View 2 of Material Master Record.

changes in that it will not effect is SD u can test this
now.
Item category group is used for SD to configure the item
category if u make anything here it will effect in your

whether it is value item,free item, etc and how this item
behaves in sales order.General item catagory group
determines the category of the item like trading
goods,service goods,& finished goods etc..

determining the batch profile in batch management, routing,
serialization profile etc.

Sorry, I don't think so. The item category group is not
exlusive for MM module. For SD, it is effective for item
category determination and determine the operation of
header items and sub-items in the items rows of sales order.

Hi Experts, The sales order is raised for 4 items and these items will be having the payment terms i,e for 30 days the company gives 2 % discount but i want to increase the credit validity period of that particular 4 th line item only for 45 days i,e the grace period for that particular line item will be incresed to 45 days with same 2% discount ,can any one suggest me how could it can be done. quotation is created with 5 line item when am doing sales order with reference with quotation only 3 item are coming in sales order copy control everything is ok waht setting i will do
