Check status window from system menu from any SAP screen.
SM51 is somewhat puzzy. Or at OS level issue disp+work -

Completely wrong.
We cant just see Unicode/ Nonunicode by typing disp+work.
go to kernel directory
>cdexe
>disp+work
If the system is Unicode, it displays Unicode.
compilation mode UNICODE
If the system is Non Unicode , it displays nothing. ( It is
so important to specify this shit !! )
Usually all ECC5 and higher version are supported by
unicode.
old versions are all nonunicode.

Hi,
To know whether the system is Unicode or nonUnicode we
should check the languages it is showing by default it
shows 2 languages i.e. English and German (EN,DE)then it is
called as Non Unicode,if it shows other than these 2
languages then the system can be defined as Unicode System.
