There are many different types of MRP methods in SAP.
1.Forecast based Planning(VV), 2.Re-order point level
planning(VM), 3.plan of unplanned material(PD), 4.no
planning(ND). What MRP type is applicable for Planning of
material can be selected in Material Masters to determine in
MRP procedures.

Lot sizing procedure is defined in the material master
record so that the sap system automatically determines
calculation of material in the planning runs
Ex:Static lot size,optimizing and Period lot sizes

Ex:whether the order qty needs to be calculated exact lot
size, rounding qty, or Min lot size, Max lot size which
needs to be set in master master record for planning

MRP type controls which mrp procedure can be used to plan a material and which mrp parameters can be entered when maintaining material master. you have to enter this mrp type on MRP 1 view of material master record.
