GAp analysis is the study of the differences between two
different information systems or applications ,EX :existing
system or legacy system with client and new in sap .IT is
an understanding of the actual and required scenarios .The
gaps can differ from company to company ,most commonly
however ,missing functionality is industry specific .
EXAMPLE :In customer master data the client requirement
needs legacy customer number which can be solved with user
exit .
In sales order we need customer phone number ,we can use
user exit
GAP analysis is done in blueprint stage. It aims to
understand what can be done with the standard sap and how
the client actually wants a particular scenario to be
processed .
EX :TO fill the gap we use the enhancements .These
enhancements divided into exits,screen exit,and menu
exit.These enhancement is used to update the standard
programe in its respective business transaction,used as a
gateway to meet the client requirements .

current position of the project and 'to be' is the feature
position of the project the diff is the gaap

Gap means difference betn As is and To be. Gap Analysis
means finding solution to overcome the GAP found. Solution
can be a work around, change in procedure, additional or
supplimentory new process etc. This solution is present in
Gap Analysis document.

Hi what Manoj Kumar Guin said is 100% correct. some times
we cant able to satisfy the client requirement with
Standard SAP then either a new enhancement or using another
software we need to fulfil the gap.
