actually we can not completely schedule background at OS
Level but we can trigger a background job which has already
scheduled by using sapevt tool syntax as follows.

sapevt <event name> nr=<instance name> name=<host name>

If any Background Job is defined as to active by triggering
of any event which are defined from Tcode SM62,you can
trigger the event from SAP from Tcode SM64, and from OS
level by login to the specific server from OS level and
running the sapevt program
as - >
sapevt <event name> pf=D:\usr\sap\SID
\SYS\profile\<instance_profile>

first you need to login to the path
usr sap <sid> sys exe run

then you need to create a event by executing the command

sapevt event name -t pf=usrsap<sid>sysprofileinstance profile path nr=instance number

yes ofcourse. backgroundjobs scheduling is possible for os
level in sap basis..

sapevt <event described> nr=00 name=<hostname>

this might b the right one.... i am sure about it.

events can be triggered at os level by using the sapevt. in
this way you can define jobs that wait for the occurerrance
of the event together with the parameter.
sapevt <event> -p parameter -t pf=profile name=sid nr=instance
sapevt MYEVENT name=DEV nr=00
schedule a job at sapgui that starts after this event occurs

How u will apply OCS patches? If a user wants to execute a background job immediately but there is no Background work process available. How u will do? How you will do client copy? If SAP * user is not available at all in your system then how u will do client copy?
