Upselling: When a sales man sells a customer a similar but
more expensive item with the same or higher attributes, this
is called upselling.
Downselling: When a sales man sells a similar but a cheaper
item with the same or less attributes, this is called
downselling.
Downselling is mostly done by the companies to sell out
their old stock.

Correct me if I am wrong.
Cross selling is like bundling certain offering with various other products so that the customer can be benefited.
In case of Up Selling, for eg. if a customer is buying a PC, salesman can suggest Printer, USB drive, headphone, webcam etc. at a discounted price.
But in case of down selling, for eg. if a customer is looking to buy a laptop, but the requirement can be fulfilled by a PC at a very low cost, then the customer is proposed with that product which suits the requirement best.
