and company code is same then we have to maintain the sales
area data page only.
General data page and company code page is same in that
case.

I think Mayank is correct, but the answer is incomplete. A
sales area is a combination of Sales Org, Dist Channel and
Division. If you have one customer in different sales
areas, then there is no need to create multiple customer
master records for that one customer. You can use the
Common Distribution Channel and/or Common Division feature
of SAP and retain the same customer number. Here you have
to keep one Distribution Channel and one Division as the
reference and subsequent DCs and Divns will only be
assigned this reference DC and reference Divn as Reference
DC and Reference Divn, so that all the customer master data
gets copied into the other sales areas.
The above is true not only for customer master but all
kinds of master data i.e. material and conditions.

Technically once company can have multiple sales orgs (i.e
sales area).
If a customer exist in one sales org (i.e sales area), it
just needs to be extended to intended additonal sales area.
NO chage is required. However assumption is intended sales
area is already defined/configured for the same company
code.

Sunil, you are correct but you can go for common master
data only when you do not want to have different data as
per different sales area. For example if you are having a
plan to have different paymant term in different
distribution channel than you can not have a common master
data for customer.
Sippose I have only one div. & one sales organisation but 5
dist. channels. So 5 sales area are possible.Suppose
customer wants have bussiness in all sales areas ,so I have
to validate the customer in all sales area. That means I
have to maintain the sales area data 5 times for 5 sales
area.Suppose I want do not have any different data to put
as per diff. sales area than instead of doing it several
times I go for common master data which will reduce my job
of maintainance.
