Shall we get electrical shock if we touch the positive
terminal of a 230 volt dc supply?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
in DC voltage there are two types of distribution negative
earthed and negative unearthed
in negative earthed system you will get shock and if
neutral is unearthed you will never get shock unless you
touch the negative at the same time
you can easily idetify whether the distribution is earthed
or unearthed by measuring voltage the positive with respect
to earth. if it shows some voltage it is negative earthed
system

no we wont get a shock, because there wont be a return path
for the current to flow, a circuit has to be closed for the
current to flow, here path will be +ve terminal ur body and
say earth and it finally has to end at negative terminal as
the potential differce is between those two terminals but
not positive terminal and earth

Of course u will get shock as positive terminal got earth
parth through ur body.
If u have enough isolation from earth as well as negative
terminal than u will not ot shock.

Obviously it will get shocked bec for flowing electricity it
needed closed path general way its starts from +ve end and
terminated at -ve terminals when human touches +ve terminal
human body acts as -ve terminal so current flows through
human body and terminate at earth.... Flowing of electric
charge inside human body is called shock

You may get shock if positive of 230 v is touched as body
is supposed to have negative or zero potential which may be
treated as ground.

u clearly understand that the dc supply is independent of
time. as we know the ac supply is depends upon the time
variation. if u touch the 230v u surely get high electric
shock as compared to 230v ac...

We have two Al.busbars each of size 125mm*10 mm connected in parallel. To increase the current rating ,can we connect third busbar of size 100mm*10mm in parallel to existing two busbars? In my opinion ,if we connect busbars of different sizes in parallel, then the busbar of lowest size will take much current. So this type of paralleling should be avoided .Am I correct?
We have drive feeding an output contactor for a 5000 hp motor @ 5kV application. The motor FLA is 629amps x 1.25% service factor = 786.25 amps The cable that we current have in place between the drive and the output contactor is 350kcmil- MV-105 (parallel cables). Per the NEC table 310.60 (C) (69). This show the cable ampacity is at 615 amps per cable for a rating of 1230 amps. We have derated the cable for the cable tray and the multiple cables application and our calculations show that after the correction factor factor we are at 922amps. 1230 amps x .75% correction factor factor = 922.5 amps. The customer is driving us to then use another safety factor of .25% off of the already derated cable. Can you please provide a longhand calculation for your solution on this application?
