If connected load of Asphalt plant is 375Kw. What suitable
KVA DG set is required. What is calculation formula. what
extra load have to consider. in what efficiency it will
work.
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
connected load=375kw
kva=kw/cos phi
kva=375kw/.8
=468.75
extra load= 20% (assume) i.e 468*20%= 93.6
total 468.75+93.6=543.68 kva say 550kva
eff. 375/550*pf (0.8)*100=85%.

Answer / munish saini
KW=KVA*PF
PF=.8
KW=375
KVA=KW/PF,=375/.8=468.75KVA
20 Percent required more as eppiciency Factor
so required dg should be=562.5 KVA

Dear friends,
Total Connected Load = 375 KW
KVA required @0.8 PF = 375 /0.8 = 468
Taking a 0.8 as a Demand Factor = 468 *0.8=375 KVA
Considering running of D.G set on 80% load = 3750.8=468 KVA
Considering 20% load for future expansion = 468 + 20%(93KVA)
Total KVA of D.G set = 561 KVA
you can go with 600 KVA D.G set .

if the connected load of plant is 375kw. but any time all
the load may not be there. if peak load may be 300kw at any
instant so KVA rating of DG=KW/cos(phi) so you can take
300/0.9= 333.33 so you can take 350KVA Dg you can go for.

dear friends,
Given kw = 375
suitable kva = 375/.8 =468.75
Future extra load consider = 20% ie.. 93.75kva
total kva = 468.75 + 93.75 = 562.5
as per company designed capacity preferred is 625kva dg set

Answer / vikash gupta
calculation formula:-kva rating=kw rating/cos phi
connected load=375w
kva=kw/cos phi
kva=375w/.8
=468.75w (ans)
extra load=(468.75-375)w
=93.75watts(ans)
efficiency =375*100/468.75
=80%

Answer / sam
calculation formula is KVA= KW*Pf(cos phi)
KVA= 375*.9
KVA=337 so DG set will be more than 20% of rated KVA

How does frequency affect KVA rating of a transformer? If a 500 kva, 400 v, 60 hz t/f is to be operated on 50 hz frequency then how will its KVA rating change? a-increase b-decrease c-remains same Also explain why do u think like that.
y we use neutral,all r told its used to for closed path..k its a just used to closed path,in a transmission line y we put same conductor used n both phase and neutral..if we use less than phase conductor in neutral mean we ll reduce cost its right r wrong..if we use mean any problem occur in transmission line..
