It is the highest amount of power drawn (real/apparent)from
the grid by the plant during any 1/2hr duration in a billing
period.

For a power plant Maximum Demand is a important factor for
deciding its billing and the requirement of power from the
electricity board. It is defined as the peak demand of
power whenever the maximum load is there in operation or in
running process in the plant for the particular time period.
Maximum Demand is used to decide contract demand too and it
is generally kept at 75-80% of contract demand. If demand
of plant exceeds maximum demand limit at any time there
will be penalty for that.

it is the greatest demand attain .or it is the peak load
attaining during this period.
max.demand=connected load/diversity factor
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 5 Yes | 2 No |
Answer / azeem
maximum demand is the product of connected load and the diversity factor.
if a plant is having a motor assembly of 200 kw connected load
than the maximum demand will be(200 kw * 0.85 diversity factor)= 170 Kw for time interval

The greatest average value of the power, apparent power, or
current consumed by a customer of an electric power system,
the averages being taken over successive time periods,
usually 15 or 30 minutes in length.
The maximum demand of an electrical installation, so far as
tariff purposes are oncerned, is the maximum rate at thwich
the supply is being used during any complete half-hour
period, and is measured in kilovolt-amperes (kva). Kva is
similar in value to KW but is usually in the case of motive
power, 10-20% higher. For instance if a 20kw motor and a
6kw heater are on for a half hour period then the MD would
be in the order of 28KVA (assuming kva to be 10% higher
then KW on motor) The ratio of KW to KVA is called power
factor.

Maximum Demand means if a plant is running with their
connected load (or) running load, at the month end the
total power consumed by the plant,(in KWH) is said to be
the Maximum Demand achieved.

How can we checked Killo Watts of Motor & Alternator?
Dear Friends, I have a 500KVA transformer supplying whole factory having 3 phase and single phase mixed loads. Power room has ammeters connected via CTs for individual phase. Now I know that readings shown on meter for each phase say R,Y and B are line currents. But when I want to know the total on transformer do I need to add the currents of all three phases readings shown on meter or value for anyone phase will give me the correct power load on transformer for that point of time. 2. If ammeter shows unbalanced readings for R,Y, B phases say 150, 250 and 300 respectively so can I assume that 150A i.e average of 3 will be the 3phase load currents and remaining will be 1phase currents. Please clarify my doubt.
