Answer / bapu
it is root mean square value.(ie)take one resister give
the supply(A.C) it will produce the some heat and give the
D.C supply to the same resistance the heat will
produce.while give the D.C supply it would producethe same
heat as in A.c supply that time the D.C cuurent value shows
the r.m.s. vlue of A.c current.

it is a Root Mean Square Value. it is also known as
effective value. In D.C. supply value of current is
constant so we can easily find the effective value of
current but in A.C. supply current is not constant. so to
find the efective value we taking reference Heat. it means
it is that value of D.C. current which when flowing through
the circuit produces the same amount of heat as produced by
A.C. current in same circuit in same time.

consider a resistor of r ohms.give ac supply of v1 volts to
it for a time period of t seconds.due to the current
flowing through it the resistor will produce some heat q1
joules.
then the rms value of v1 is the dc voltage required to
produce q1 joules in the same time t seconds in the
resistor r ohm.

Root mean square or rms value of ac is the dc equiivalent
which when flow through a unit resistance produce the same
amount of heat produced by the dc current. It is 0.707
TIMES THE MAXIMUM VALUE.

ROOT MEAN SQUARE VALUE is the value of DC current that will
give the same heat as AC when allowed to flow in a cct for
a stated period of time.

Answer / general
The root mean square value of alternating current is equal
to the value of the direct current which, flowing through a
resistance, produces the same heating effect in the
resistance as the alternating current does.

i want to ask that as everybody knows that in star connection on star point is called neutral. my question is that why on that poin called neutral. what is the reason behind it. what is the logic behind it. i heared somewhere that on this point all phases current become zero thats why. if this answer is right then prove why on that point is current become zero. if this answer is not right then tell me the right answer. post ur answer here or on my mail address. m.ikram786@yahoo.com m.ikram555@gmail.com. thanks.
