Why a starter is used for a motor?

Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback

Why a starter is used for a motor?..

Answer / sanjeet swarnakar

to limit the starting current ,because the resistance of
armature is very less so starting current becomes four to
five times . so to save the motor starter is used

Why a starter is used for a motor?..

Answer / satish kumar .g

motor can't start at high current so we use starter to
increase the current rapidly to motor. Then motor fix up the
high current and start rotate

Why a starter is used for a motor?..

Answer / k.delip kumar

IF SUUDEN FLOW OF CURRENT IN AN ac or dc MOTER THE WINDINGS
MAY GET DAMEGED SO TO OVERCOME THIS STARTER IS A TECNOLOGY
TO REDUCE THE STARTIN CUREENT

Why a starter is used for a motor?..

Answer / irfanullah

Basically we know that current is divided in parallel network .in order to control the current ratings for both field and armature in such cases we are using starter .

Is This Answer Correct ?    0 Yes 1 No

Why a starter is used for a motor?..

Answer / niranjan

since during starting the back emf is zero and as v=e+ir
and as the armature resistance is approximately negligible
therefore the armature current is very high .Therefore
inorder to limit the starting current a starter is used
for a motor.

Is This Answer Correct ?    1 Yes 3 No

Why a starter is used for a motor?..

Answer / shankar

In motors stator will use for rotote the roter .when will
we not used stator we can't get the magnet filed .when we
give the supply to motor dirctly go to stator resistants &
brons the magentic filed & roter rotate

Is This Answer Correct ?    1 Yes 4 No

Why a starter is used for a motor?..

Answer / pradeep

starter is used for smooth start of rotor without
tremendous increase in current.the help to avoid backlash &
reduce the ohmic losses.

Is This Answer Correct ?    1 Yes 6 No

Why a starter is used for a motor?..

Answer / senthil kumar.a

answer no4 . it is wrote by deepesh is write, but it only
acceptable for dc motors, incase of ac motor

in ac motor thr rotor current dirctly proportional to slip
at the moment of starting the rotor is standstill, it means
the slip has the it is maximum value so therotor current
also maximum . it cause rotor is burned. to avoid it we
must provide the stater
