Answer / r.prabhu
powerfactor is a cosine angle between voltage and current.
In industries powerfactor maintained is most important one.
loads are three types 1.Resistive Load
2.Inductive Load
3.Capacitive Load
Inthis load Resistive load is Unity Powerfactor
Inductive load is Lagging powerfactor
Capacitive Load is Leading Powerfactor
PowerfactorImprovement:
1.Static Capacitor
2.Synchronous condensor
3.Phase Advansor

power factor is the ratio of real power to apparent power
generally p.f must be 0.95
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 88 Yes | 9 No |
Answer / rk
we are maintaing the power factor between 0.95 to 0.98.
the most economical power factor is 0.96.
if your pf is below 0.9, electrical board authorities will
impose a penalty.

Maintaining Unity powerfactor is impossible in industries
or in other places. but research is going on for sucessful
use of unity powerfactor

Answer / selvan
Power factor is ratio of real power to apparant power. In
industries maitain the powerfactor is important one.But not
maintain the powerfactor in unity, Loads varied form time
to time.In industries induction motors and tubelights
mostly used. This are inductive loads, this loads create
lagging powerfactor. So to improve the powerfactor by using
static capacitors, syncronous condensor and phase advanser.

THE BETTER POWER FACTOR MAINTAINED IS 0.95 TO 0.85,IF BELOW
0.85 THE ELEC BOARD WILL PUT PENALTY,IF WE MAINTAINED ABOVE
0.95 THE BOARD WILL GIVE U THE INSENTIVE FOR THAT.
