Answer / ram.

Schedule line will have two schedule line created.
forward scheduling: (one for requested delivery date with
zero qty , another with confirmed qty at later delivery
date)

Backward scheduling : system will give you one schedule
line for the line item with correct qty to be delicvered on
requested delivery date.

You ll get many docs on Backward and forward scheduling. But for the second part, i think you can know by going to the Schedule line level and check if there are 2 Schedule lines; one with Zero or partial qty confirmation and the second one completing the qty. If this the case then, then Fwd and Backward scheduling has taken place. You get the second Schedule Line cause of the Forward Scheduling.

If only one Schd Line with full confirmed qty is there then only Backward Scheduling has taken place.

this ll go in-tandem with Availability Check,of course.

backward scheduling is calculated from customers requested
delivery date
forward scheduling is calculated from order date to confirm schedule line for feature delivery date for requested qty
