We have laid the single core Armoured cable 7 nos ( 2 each
phase & 1 neutral ) to cater our electrical load .
the issue is though we have Glanded the cable both the end
also givan the earthing to the panel both the end we are
facing a heavy sparking at the gland side. what could be
the reason.

This is definitely a case of improper earthing. The
substation earthing is poor. The panel and armoring of cable
need to be more strongly earthed. During normal conditions
there would not be any sparking butwhen there is any fault
on 11kv line nearby, the ground potential suddenly rises and
so the panel comes at a high potential and sparking take
place between panels and armoring of cables which are not
getting proper earth.

Well, you need to check if you really need to glad the
cables from both side .Or check the type of glad is it
metal or non-metalic .

Use special gland (Gland with bush) at the panel(load side), but ensure the proper gland earthing in first side. The above situation is due to circulating current

Dear Virendra
if you are using CRCA gland plate for glanding then such problem may occur. If you are using single core cables then either use aluminium gland plate or make a thin cut hole to hole in CRCA gland plate

It sounds like you have a loop, check and see if the
neutral and the earthing cable are laid down on the same
bars. If this not the incoming service then that could
cause your problem.

Guys,
let me clear that the earthing is proper we get the value
0.1ohm. We have used double compress gland which is fixed
in proper way, there no such thing like looping, but still
the problem is there . please share what else can be the
cause ?
