we all know that load balancing is done by logon groups.
can any tell how can we add users to logon groups

soory the above answer is worng...we need create the group
in the SAP GUI (ex ..basis, SD ) and give the ip address
system no and SID and add logon group
Copy Logon.ini & sapmsg.ini to the windows directory of
each User Desktop or write batch file(logon script).
Make an entry in the service file for message server
port
Path : :windows\system32\drivers\etc\services
Entry : sapms<sid>36<instance no>TCP/IP

load balancing:-
it is used to route the request to least loaded instance in
the group.factors define logon load balancing.
They are multiple instance in the group.
-- SMLG is used to define logon groups.
--llb is used to route the requset to least loaded server in
the group.
--go to st07
identify the compments along with users.
If the users are logging to different instance the buffers
are scattered.
there fore they not effectively used:-
load balancing provide the following:- 1.buffers are
optimally utilized
2.loadbalancing to avoid long quens.
3.failure.
LOGON GROUPS ARE DEFINED IN SMLG:
Define the groups and assign instance:-
Mechanisam:
1.user uses sap gui---groups option to login.
2.saplogon.ini is used to display the available entries.
3.user selects group and click on logon
4.when the user selects gruoup it looks for sapmsg.ini to
identifiy the message server and etc/services for message
server port.
5.sapdoccd.ini--for liabary
6.saprfc.ini-- to route to the server.

There are two ways to add a user in to Logon groups.
1. With Su10 mass user selection.
2. with SU01-logon data- there u can define the logon group
for the specific user.
