it is used to prevent from shocks at fault.ie,for example
over cuttent occurs in the s/m means large amt of current
flowing,it will go to the s/m failer and shock.earthing
means the exessive current flow through neutral.

Earthing is nothing but is used to remove unwanted/ harmful current/ Voltage by sending it to earth via. earth pit, either it come in the body of any instrument (washing machine, Freeze, AC or any lathe machines, electrical motors..) or in the shield of the signal cable via interference.
This is also known with different-2 names.
Like: Electronic earthing, panel earthing, system earthing, Instrument earthing, Shield earthing...... .
But the purpose is same....
This is not only to protect the Human and equipment but also for better communication in case of 4-20ma, 0-10V signals.... removed by using shielded cables with one end earthed.

A group of machines (wind turbines) connected with 33KV feeder and each machines are having individual VCB. The 33KV feeder connected with 110KV/33KV substation. The 33KV feeder tripped by over current at Substation and fault recorded at Substation as OC-R&Y phase. Same time the group of machines VCB tripped by over voltage, the fault recorded voltage was above 66KV by numerical Under/Over voltage relay. While grid drop time, this much of voltage hike is possible?
