Can you explain about pole discrepancy scheme
Answer / Nikesh Gupta
A pole discrepancy (PD) protection scheme is used to protect a power system from ground faults. It works by comparing the current flow through two poles of a transformer or generator, and trips the circuit breaker when an imbalance is detected.nnIn a PD protection scheme, current transformers are connected in such a way that the current flowing through each pole is measured separately. If the current in one pole exceeds the current in the other pole by more than a predefined threshold, the relay trips the circuit breaker to isolate the faulty pole.nnThis scheme is effective at detecting ground faults and reduces the risk of nuisance trips caused by momentary or insignificant earth faults.
