how do you calculate IKW(consumption per TR) in HVAC?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Answer / umesh kumar
As we know that 1 KW = 3413 btu ( British thermal unit)
and 1 TR = 12000 btu
kw capacity = 12000/3413
Hence 1 TR = 3.5 kW

1 Ton of Ice = 2000 Pounds(909.1 Kg)
Latent Heat of Ice = 335 kJ/kg
Amount of Heat removed to form 1 ton of (british) ice from
0deg of water to 0deg ice =
(909.1 X 335)/(24 X 3600) = 3.5 KW
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 34 Yes | 3 No |

Here comes the importance of COP which is always greater than 1
Both the answers are correct.
1 Ton = 3.5 kw
but for producing 1tr,only .7-.9 kw/tr(depending on machine).
