Answer / nilantha warushavithana
1 TR = 12,000 BTU/h
1 BTU/sec = 1.055 kW
12,000 Btu/h = 3.5166 kW
1 kW = 3412.3 BTU/h

Ikw
Power input in kw for per ton of refrigeration KW/TR
FOR EXAMPLE 100TR CHILLER
FOR PRODUCING 100TR POWER CONSUMED 90 KW
IKW /TON = 100 / 90 = 0.9 i.e 0.9 KW /TON
to find IKW,COP,EER
If the power consumption is 1 kw /ton power consumption
system will provide cop of 3.5 and EER will be 12.

to find out ikw
Amp.X Volts X Power-factor X 1.732/1000= kilowatts
then divided by machine tonnage = input kilowatt(IKW)

1Tr=80x907/24 ( ice requires 80kcal/hr to melt,907 is US
short ton)
=3023 Kcal
1kw= 860kcal/hr
1TR =3024/860
1TR =3.51KW

Be Carefull!!!!
TR and W are POWER UNITS
Btu is an ENERGY UNIT
As everyone knows from Basic Physics:
Energy = Power x time
The actual conversions are:
12.000 Btu/h = 1 TR
1 TR = 3517 W
Therefore,
12.000 Btu = 1 TR-h
12.000 Btu = 3517 kWh
Watchout!!!!!.....

I know that 1 kw = 3413 B.T.U. and 1T.R.=12000 B.T.U. ,1T.R.=12000/3413.=3•5Kw.
Santiry fugle chiller I.K.W.=lode k.w./T.r.
For ex. My chiller capacity is 760 tr. And lode
509 kw.
I.K.W. =509/760
Ikw =0•669

Answer / pradip
1TR= 12000BTU = 3000KCAL = 3.516KW,It is a thermal Unit,
But IKW relate of Power Consuption of Kw/TR,
In market many HVAC systems area available,so every systems
has different IKW,
Example : for VRV system
1TR consume 0.95 to 1.2KW,
1TR=1.2KW,
so IKW =1.2

Answer / ruka
1TR=3.5kW <-- Cooling Capacity
3.5kW/COP = Electricity Consumption; normally COP>= 3
COP = Coefficient of Performance
If COP = 3.5
then;
1TR = 1kW <--- Can be varie
