As we know, charged clouds(from which lightning stroke
initiates)may be charged with either +ve charge or -ve
charge.
Now say one cluster of cloude is fully charged with +ve
charge & another cluster is fully charged with -ve charge.
In the sky these two cluster of charged clouds have come in
such a distance that, if they come clouser by some few
yeards then the lightning discharge will take place between
these two cluster of clouds. Under such a situation an
Aircraft came inbetween. what happend??

ACTUALLY THERE ARE MANY THEORIES REGARDING LIGHTNING STROKE.
EACH HAS ITS OWN WAY.
SOME THEORIES SPECIFES ABOUT THE GROUNDING CONDITION.SO
FOR A LIGHTNING STOKE GROUNG MUST BE COMPULSORY.OTHER WISE
THERE IS NO CLOSED PATH FOR THE LIGHTNING CURRENT.
SO WHENEVER PLANE COMES IN BETWEEN THERE IS NO GROUND,
HENCE PLANE WILL NOT BE AFFECTED.

Answer / shinyvikram
ya its simply related to grounding.
--- for a current to flow in a body ,we should compulsory
provide a closed path.
sice aeroplane is flying in the air-it is circuit is not
closed or its open circuit.
so, even though thunder strikes the plane,it doesnt cause
any effect on the plane

The clouds are always negatively charged body and the earth
as the positively charge body. When rain comes the
rainfalls (distilledwater) serve as the electrolyte or the
medium in between of these two charged bodies. In this
case, considering the enormous wideness of the area of
earth covered by clouds, a dielectric phenomena happens and
the cuurent travels from clouds to earth. That is what we
see as lightning.
Regarding of the plane, it serves as an incident
interrupter between these two electrically charged bodies.
Is there any news or event that a plane passes thru clouds
hit by lightning? None.

I am not convinced with previous answer,Because, as we
know, number of lightning happens between charged clouds,
which are visible also during thunderstrom ( correct me if
i am wrong). let me place another relevant question --"is
there any instrument used by aircraft to sense existance of
nearby charged cloud??"

I am no expert but from your findings i would say the plane
would become a conductor to short cct the charges. Maybe that's
why planes fly above the clouds and also when ever two
differently charged clouds come close to one another they don't
wait for a plane to fly through they get attracted and a
lighting followed by thunder is produced.
