Control record is used to control payroll related
activities. Tcode: PA03. Main functions:
1. To display the payroll status(release payroll, release
for corrections, payroll results, exit payroll).
2. Determines current pay period.
3. determines earliest retro accounting period.
4. Locks the master data(related to py and time)before
running payroll.
Payroll and Control record share 1-1 relationship.

Uses of Control Record -
1. determines the exact date of payroll
2. determines payroll past for retroactive accounting recognition
3. locks the master data and time data during the payroll run, so that no changes can be made in payroll past and payroll present, changes can be made in future
4. determines earliest possible retroactive accounting date for payroll run
Control Record is a pre-requisite for each payroll area. There can be one control record for each payroll area. We may not be able to assign number of payroll ares to one control record.
