Re-open Period closing
Suppose by mistake you closed the MM period and want to
reopen it.

Use transaction code MMPI.

Enter the period you want to open sequentially. For e.g.
the current period is 10, and you want to be open for the
7th one, then you have to open period like 9th, 8th and
7th. After making the correction you have to closed the
period again sequentially.

There are no major-minor impact on the system, but it is
better to do this once only. Regular practice for this
transaction may be harmful.

open and close posting periods are marked by sap
consultants for end users to post in a particular date to
date or a month, with this we can maintain the perfect data
with out any mis postings done by end users.(for exampmle
he can not enter before or after the prescribed date
enered) we can restrict them by giving open and close
posting periods in tr.code OB52.

We will open the FI posting period using OB52.We will open
the new period and close the completed month. We can keep
it open the previous period untill we do the settlement.But
we should do it in the first 4 days of the new period.

We will define posting period variant and assign to company code. We will maintain period open / close in OB52 T code to restrict and allow to user for SAP postings in a particular month.

Closing Periods) and MMPV (MM Posing periods) .

Transaction code S_alr_87003642 for account type.
you can use mmpv for closing the period for material master
record.
