For an 100kw generator, only 50kw of load is connected. Will
the generator generate only 50kw or 100kw. If it generate
100kw what happens to rest of the 50kw. What happens if we
connect more than 100kw of load?

Answer / kj
The answer above is correct in that the generator will only
generate power as required.
The limiting factor with load above the 100kw in the
example is the power output of the engine. If excess load
is applied the frequency will drop until underspeed
protection shuts the genrator down or the engine stalls.

Any capacity Generator will not generate full power at all
times, According to load requirements it will give power. For
50kW load the 100kW generator will generate 50kW only.
There is no problem if we connect more than rated power in
small amount but it cause over heating of generator.
