what types of load we get from the national grid? is this
capacitive or inductive?
Answer / jim
By load you mean the usage such as in buildings and factory's. There loads have a fairly large amount of magnetizing current (inductive) for motors, power supplies and ballasts. Transmission lines, which deliver energy from power plants to cities, have there own capacitve and inductive losses. The transmission lines also have to deliver large amounts of magnetizing currents for the loads mentioned.

Even when a particular generator in a generating station is under maintenance we are still able to maintain the same power output. How is this possible? Does the tie line between 2 generating stations have a role to play in it?
we have require a Motor (1500kW, 6.6kV, 50Hz) which shall operate at 1500rpm during 30min and after it shall run on 500rpm during 15min. The same cycle shall be repetitive during the whole working days. Which method is best and economic to achieve such type of task. VFD, VVFD, Pole changing motor etc.
