Document type is nothing vouchers containing line items.
Several business transac! tions can be identified within a
particular document type.
It controls the document number ranges.
It controls the Header part of document
IT controls the line item level of the document

Sap comes delivered with a number of document types.which
are used in various postings.the document type helps to
classfiy an accounting transaction within the system,and
used to control the transaction determining account type a
particular document typecan post to.for example the document
type AB allows you to post to all the accounts,where as type
DZallows you to post only the customer payments.every
document type is assigned to a number range.

I have small dought in document namber ranges .
I have given serial no 19 . intervel 1-10 (all the entries
field)
in 20 seriyal no 11- 100000(this intervel postings has been
started the posting)
so while posting the f-43 entry i am not able to post
fiscal year is 2012 start is aprl
