If we connect the capacitor banks for DG set for maintainig
the power factor, it will effect to alternator
windings??????????

we will not have to connect the capacitor with the D.G.
because D.G. work on the principle of AVR(Automatic voltage
regulator)and AVR work always lagging PF. if we connect the
capacitor then it gives leading P.F.And O/P voltage of D.G.
will be vary so we never connect the Capacitor with the D.G.

Capacitors can be connected to DG set But, the Power factor should be always maintained below Unity (i.e lag), if it cross beyond the Unity (i.e lead) Alternator's Automatic voltage Regulator get burnt and simultaneously the windings

You can connect capacitors across load to the extent the
reactive power is compensated.Over compensation is
harmful.As a thumb rule 80% compensation is o.k.But then
the voltage should not be allowed to increase beyond limits.

We can connect capacitors to compnsate reactive power to a
certain limit because in DG set there will not any value
for shooting of Max. demand. One benifit you will get that
your alternator winding will get more life.

The generator is a source of power. You never connect
capacitor across source. The capacitor should be connected
accros load for power factor compensation so as to meet the
reactive power demand.overcompensation is harmful.
