lighting arrester shoul be placed on both side of the
switchyard.at the starting end with each phase lighting
arrester should be places and at the end point of switchyard
with each phase it should be placed.

installations.Like on the switchyard,substations.It is
installed on each R,Y B phases on the primary side of the
power transformrs.LAs directly discharges heavy currents
produced due to lightening to the ground thru heavy copper
strips.this prevents heavy damages to CTs,PTs and other
metering equipments.

isolator of incoming line of any distribution system as BIL
is less compared to any other HT equipment so as to protect
the other equipments if lightning stroke occurs.

if d primary n sec. of a transformer both r hv means ,la is
placed on both d sides,if it is a hv-lv transformr la can b
placed at hv side,these r mainly placed for power/outdoor
transformers
