there will not be an effect on DG if we add the capacitor.
But normally we recommend to install capacitor bank where
load is fluctuating, unstable.

The capacitor bank is kept to improve the power factor as most of the industrial load is inductive, hence to get the power factor to close to 0.85 or more the caoacitor bank helps. thus reduing losses.

yes we can, but it can be upto safe life limit of extent of 0.95 P.F Usually dg set are designed over 0.8 P.F.

connect c in dc it acts a open ckt.

At 765Kv, I have seen the use of PT at line side for metering and CVT for protection, although as far as my knowledge is concern, PT at this voltage level will have huge loss and more cost as compared to CVT as CVT can also perform same function of Protection and Metering? So my question is why use PT and not CVT for metering and protection in order to reduce the cost.
