when an infoobject depends on other info object (superior
object) then superior object is called the compunding object
for the actual infoobject.
Ex: Controlling area is the compounding object for costcentre.
similarly plant is the compounding object for the material.

This is Govardhan ... Compounding info object is nothing but holds the info object( Superior info object )to an other info object at compound tab level while creating info object, it means if one info object ( 0LOCATION )is added to an other info object ( 0PLANT ). if you keep superior info object in Infocube the attached info object also will come automatically and even query level also .
