what is the function of commutator in dc motor?..

Answer / kalai anand

commutator converters the input diret currenr(DC) to
alternating current(AC) and properly distributes it to each
winding in the armature

what is the function of commutator in dc motor?..

Answer / waqas iftikhar

To keep the torque on a DC motor from reversing every time
the coil moves through the plane perpendicular to the
magnetic field, a split-ring device called a commutator is
used to reverse the current every 180 degree at that point.

what is the function of commutator in dc motor?..

Answer / hitesh

it is true ,commutator converts dc to ac because here we are
applying dc supply and dc has no frequency so it is not
possible production of flux so commutator is required to
convert dc to ac.

what is the function of commutator in dc motor?..

Answer / anamika verma

commutator is a mechanical rectifier which converts ac to dc.
when a voltage is generated in armature coils which is ac ,commutator converts it in dc with the help of brushes in gives dc voltage or current.
commutator is always rest on shaft and insulated with it.

what is the function of commutator in dc motor?..

Answer / vikram

it converts ac current produced in machien to dc current
so,its also called as mechanical rectifier.
A commutator is a rotary electrical switch in certain types
of electric motors or electrical generators that
periodically reverses the current direction between the
rotor and the external circuit

what is the function of commutator in dc motor?..

Answer / pravin sathalpara

dear all friends commutator is not use in dc motor.it is
use in dc generator and its function is ac induce emf
converts into dc emf.

what is the function of commutator in dc motor?..

Answer / manreet

Function of commutator in DC motor is to convert AC(alternating current) into DC(direct current).

Is This Answer Correct ?    1 Yes 2 No

what is the function of commutator in dc motor?..

Answer / rahul kumar

In dc motor commutator helps to convert the DC signal to AC
signal,A segmented of copper sleeve is called a commutator.
As the motor turns, carbon brushes slide over the commutator,
coming in contact with different segments of the commutator.
The segments are attached to different rotor windings,
therefore, a dynamic magnetic field is
generated inside the motor when a voltage is applied
across the brushes of the motor.
