If an electrical component has a positive temperature coefficient, how come such components have high power losses due to heat if current decreases when resistance increases? assuming power given by I^2*R whereby the Resistance is infinite.

If an electrical component has a positive temperature coefficient, how come such components have hig..

It seems there's a misunderstanding or error in your question. Infinite resistance would result in zero current flow, which means no power loss. A component with a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) has an increase in resistance as it gets hotter. This can lead to decreased current flow and thus reduced power loss at lower temperatures. However, if the PTC device exceeds its designed maximum operating temperature, its resistance will further increase, leading to higher losses due to increased heat generation.
