_SYS_REPO is the system repository for SAP HANA, where all the metadata and objects are stored. When you create modeling views using tables from a schema, SAP HANA generates internal objects in the system repository to represent these views. Granting SELECT privilege to _SYS_REPO user ensures that your application can access these generated objects.
