What is fuel requirement of 20kg/hr of incineration having material calorific value 6500 kcal/kg and diesel calorific value 10707 Kcal/Kg (PCC=850 degC and SCC 1050 Deg c)
Answer / Jatin Girdhar
To find the fuel requirement, we first calculate the heat released by the incineration material and the diesel fuel. Let x be the mass of diesel required per hour to produce the same amount of heat as the incinerated material. Since 1 kg of incineration material has a calorific value of 6500 kcal, and 1 kg of diesel has a calorific value of 10707 kcal, we have:
Calories released by incineration = Mass_of_incineration * Calorific_value_of_incineration
Calories released by diesel = x * Calorific_value_of_diesel
Equating these two expressions and solving for x, we get:
6500x = 10707 * Mass_of_incineration
Since the mass of incineration is given as 20 kg/hr, we have:
6500x = 20 * 10707
x = (20 * 10707) / 6500
x = approximately 34.99 kg/hr of diesel

Heat transfer: In a steady state one dimensional conduction with no heat generation, the differential equation is d / dx (k dT / dx) = 0. Prove that T(x) = ax b, where k, a and b are constants. (b) At x = 0, T = c and at x = L, T = d. Prove that T(x) = (d - c) x / L c for boundary conditions.

Question 83 - The United States of America Energy Information Administration reports the following emissions in million metric tons of carbon dioxide in the world for year 2012 : Natural gas : 6799, petroleum : 11695, coal : 13787. Coal-fired electric power generation emits around 2000 pounds of carbon dioxide for every megawatt hour generated, which is almost double the carbon dioxide released by a natural gas-fired electric plant per megawatt hour generated. If 1 metric ton = 1000 kg and 1 pound = 0.4536 kg, estimate the total energy generated by natural gas in the world for year 2012, in gigawatt hour.
