This is Retained Earning Account Which help to Carry forward P&L result to Balance Sheet (Transaction key - BIL)

* In OB53 for the chart of account We have to maintain a P&L statement acct type and assign a GL Account, than system carry forward p&l result to this account

* If you want to maintain more than one Reserves &Surplus accounts for your chart of account in OB53
Ex :
P&L Statement Account Description
X 100001 Retained earning a/c - cement
Y 100002 Retained earning a/c - Steel

If you maintain more than one Retained earning account you need to select a Retained earning a/c for each GL account while creating GL Masters in FS00

You can get profit and loss result above assigned accounts wise

i am getting error that"there is no item category assigned to account no(any account no)company while save the entries in gernal ledger, i able to simulate the entries but not to saved, i am using 6.0ecc version. so some one gave answer that"you activated document splitting for that u have to assign the item category for that g/l other wise u can deactive in docment splitting as per co code level".so pleaze any one tell me the path or method to how to deactive document splitting as per co code lever
