What is switch gear? How it is work ?
Answer / chreamz
A switchgear is an automated electric power switching
device or cubicle. It comprises of Current Transformer,
Voltage Transformer, Relays and Circuit Breaker. Together,
these instruments work hand-in-hand to initiate Closing,
Tripping of power hence protecting the connected load in
the system.
Should a fault occur within the system, a CT pick up the
exact type of fault, sending the associated signal to the
relay. The relay, dubbed the brain of the switchgear, send
an isolating signal to the CB to cut the power, hence
preventing catastropy to the connected load.
