how we can select a transformer based on a particular load.
suppose we have 4 motors of rating 40 h.p , 50 h.p, 80 h.p
& 100 h.p. then what rating of transformer we can select.
urgent. pls reply

Answer / mayank goel
40+50+80+100
=270HP
1 HP=746Watt
270HP=201.42KW
Power Factor@.7=287KVA
Loading on Transformer 85%=337KVA
So we can use 400KVA transformer for this motors is okey.

Answer / eng. ahmed esmail
total HP = 40 + 50+80+100=270HP
1HP=0.746KW
total Kw =201.42Kw
at 0.75 power factor
P= S *P.F
S=268.56 KVA
at 0.85 transformer loading
S=268.56/.85=315.95 KVA
so we will use 400 KVA transformer for this motor loads

=40+50+80+100
=270HP
1 HP=746Watt
270HP=201.42KW
So we can use 250KVA transformer for this motors.

Here the g0hpiven motor values are
40HP,50HP,80HP,100HP
so total HP of motors are
40+50+80+100=270hp
1hp = 746watt
so 270*746=201420w
or 201.42kw
201.42*.85=251.744kva
Some power in hand so we should use 260kva single phase
transformer for these motor load
