half core mean and why is it required?

We take 3.5cx240sqmm Al cable,it have 3core for R,y,B phases
and 0.5c that is half of the Phase(120sqmm) for neutral.
That is known as LT cables.3C cables are HT cables.

when there is balanced load in three core , there's no need to Use more than 3C but if there is unbalanced Load in circuits , there is used 3.5C in which 0.5C carry that unbalance current through it..

3.5 core in an armoured cable means, neutral cable will be
half in diameter that of phase cable .This is used in LT
circuit where you may use 3 phase load as well as single
phase load.If the load on three phases is balanced, the
neutral current will be less hence half core for neutral may
be sufficient. But if the load on three phases tends to vary
a lot, then neutral curent may increase and in such cases 4
core cable instead of 3.5 core would be recommended.
