We have one 500KVA transformer. We have tested REF relay
and commissioned. After one and half year, due to some
ground fault in one of the DB circuit Transformer tripped
by REF relay. What will be cause and remedy. Please advise?
Answer / k.prakashchandra
I think DB is the marshalling box.If there is earth fault
or short circuit in CT secondaries of REFR core ,as the
balancing of currents is lost, there will be tripping. You
are advised to test the Tr for internal earth fault before
re-charging.The coneections of CT leads in the MB TB may be
firmly done with brass/copper bolts and nuts to avoid loose
connections.

Can u explain : how capacitor act when the supply is given is a.c and d.c. I know that when d.c supply is given then the capacitor charges and becomes open circuited. But please say about when a.c is given. I have seen that when a.c supply is given ,it charges and discharges, But when we plug in capacitor to our daily supply and take it out ,then we join those wires spark will appear, which seems charge is present ,but when a.c is given it should charge and discharge

some practicle study shows that the reactive power at the receiving end is not equal to the reactive power at the sending end.But according to theory the reactive power is exchanged by different parts of the network – capacitors and reactors permanently, but is never consumed or produced. Then Where that reacrtive power loss occuring?is there any formula to calculate reactive power loss?
