How Trains take turns, though there is no any differential

Answer / ramu murugan
Train wheels have a profile such a way that diameter of the
wheel increases towards one side, while in the other wheel
the diameter decreases. Thus when a train negociates a
turn, it moves towards any one side depending upon the
direction of turn. As the train wheels moves towards any
one side, the wheels in contact have different wheel
diameters. This makes one wheel to travel more distance
than the other during a turn.

Answer / r d
Purpose of the differential is to enable vehicles to take turn, by allowing both the wheel to rotate with different speed. This is required when wheels, like in car, are connected with same axle.
Interestingly, wheel in trains are not connected with the axle, they are independent and hence can take turns without ant differential. This is same as how the bullock cart takes turns, without any differential.

both wheel are independent to rotate, they are not coupled with
each other, hence train take turn without differential, similar
to troley of tractor

since there is no differential,so it take an long turn to change its direction, change of direction is controlled by the person sitting in the cabin hut near the junction which attach and detach the two rails accordingly.

only one wheel of the train is live and other side wheel is dead. hence, when turning takes place only turning moment is imparted to live wheel while the dead wheel just follows the other wheel. hence, turning takes place w/o differential.
