i am working in thermal power plant .
if temperature transmitter is not showing reading in dcs
then how can we rectify the problem?

Go to the field and check the local indication in the
transmitter.(normally it is in either engg. units or as
percentage)
If it is zero ,then the problem is in the sensor or
terminal connection, because most of the current generation
transmitters are highly accurate and have longer stability
periods.
Suppose local reading is ok,then check the DCS analog input
card for any fault condition and clear it.Normally this
situation is rare.

Check the Sensor properly. if it is ok, then
1)check continuity between the sensor cables
2)tight the cables properly
3)check the transmitter supply (24vdc)
if it is not ok, then check the DCS analog i/p cord.

check the millivolts output of thermocouple.then multiply
with the standard values depends on the type of
thermocouple.if the value is ok,check the temparature
trnsmitter, then check the mA o/p of TT.

1. Check the wiring at all terminal blocks at field, at
control panel and at PLC for any loose connection.
2. Check the Transmitter supply.
3. Measure the output from Transmitter.
4. Check cable continuity.
5. Finally check the configuration of TAG in the DCS (may
be someone deleated accidently).

check the tt reading once again check the main cable (from
element resistance or mv)and also check the branch
cable(from dcs 24 v)its available the problem in dcs side
check the analog modules

Hi Frnds , If Suppose 1 Pair cable of 1.5 sq mm is used for Transmitter and instead of 1.5 sq mm if i used 0.5 sq mm cable will the resistance change will occur and does it affect our transmitter reading. plz mail ur answer to ntnkamble@gmail.com plz immediately mail ur reply
