Difference between KW & kVA..

Answer / shahulsnfa

KVA is apparent power which can be treated as available
power. and KW is real power which means the power consumed
from the available power (apparent power)

Is This Answer Correct ?    9 Yes 0 No

Difference between KW & kVA..

Answer / gulmohammedibrahim

KW is real power which is consumed by machine to give output
Kvar is the reactive power ,this is the power used by electrical machines to set up and maintain magnetic flux on it
now KVA is the resultant power that is vector sum of real power and reactive power
kva=sqrtof(kw*kw)+(Kvar*Kvar)

Is This Answer Correct ?    7 Yes 1 No

Difference between KW & kVA..

Answer / arshadullah

KW means kilo watts its formula is (kw= kva*power factor)
kva means kilo volt amps (formula is (kva= kw/pf)

Is This Answer Correct ?    3 Yes 0 No

Answer / pradyumna chandra panda

in other hand we can say that kw is the real power which is used by a load(*) and kva is the supply power required to meet that load(*).

Is This Answer Correct ?    2 Yes 0 No

Difference between KW & kVA..

Answer / vivek

KW is active power measurement and includes power factor in solving
KVA is reactive power measurement and does not include power factor in its solution

Is This Answer Correct ?    9 Yes 11 No

Hi, I've just got into my electrical engineering course and I need some help with a question of mine here. During a site visit, we were shown a main LT panel which has switchgears, ammeters and different kinds of relays and the distribution network from that panel. In the main LT panel I've noted down the current readings as Ir - 163A, Iy - 150A and Ib - 147A. The Line to Line voltage is 415 V at 50 Hz and Line to Neutral voltage is 230V at 50 Hz. From the above details, how would I calculate the kVA rating of transformer? The primary side voltage of the transformer is 11 kV and the secondary side voltage is 415V and the frequency is 50 Hz.
