What is the Difference between E/P Positioner and I/P
positioner in a control valve? In which applications the
respective positioners are used in?

An I/P transducer is a device which converts a current
signal (usually 4-20mA) to a pneumatic signal (pressure
depends on actuator size requirement). The pneumatic signal
goes either directly to control device (valve, damper, etc)
for operation of the device or to a positioner which
measures the amount of mechanical travel of the control
device and adjusts the input until the exact percentage of
movement called for is achieved.
An E/P is a device that integrates both devices above into
one unit.

My understanding that the IP positioner would be that you
are using a current signal (I) and converting it to a
pressure signal (P) in order to operate a positioner valve.
I would call the signal conditioner in this case an I to P
converter.
I am not so sure about EP, but E can be used to mean EMF
which is measured in volts and so could ve voltage to
pressure signal conditioner in the same way as I to P in
the example above.

The "E/P" elector-pneumatic positioner is used for
operation of pneumatic rotary valve actuators by means of
electroller or control systems with an analog output signal
of "DC4 to 20mA" or split ranges.
I/P not sure yet.

E/P is combination of I/P & positioner i.e. the o/p pf E/P is directaly given to the valve actuator.
And in the case of I/p 4-20ma is given to it & output of I/P is given to the positioner .
