P=V * I * power factor
If p.f =1
P=V * I
Power factor means phase angle between voltage &
Current.Angle varies between 0 to 360 degree.The value of
cosine in any quadrant cannot be more than 1.so power
factor is maintained one to get maximum power.

Answer / shyamkr
we know the expression for power factor is cosine of phase
angle between voltage n current is R/Z.
SINCE r never become greater than z since r=sqrt(r2+x2)
so it varies frm 0 to 1.

Power factor means Cosine angle between Voltage and Current
so cosine rang is in between -1 to +1 so power factor unity
means one(1)
For only inductive load current lags voltage behind 90deg
For only capacitve load voltage lag current behind 90deg
For only Resistive load current and voltage both are same
phase

It is often desirable to adjust the power factor of a
system to near 1.0. This power factor correction (PFC) is
achieved by switching in or out banks of inductors or
capacitors.that is the reason the power factor is always
maintained at 1.0 and called as unity power factor.
