open delta system or the v-v connection is used to minimise costs as it is a bank of 2 1-phase transformers can b used for the power supply purpose ..but its poweer output is 57% of the 3 ph transformer .. used wen less load cond so d losses r less ...and wen in fftute load requiremnt increases the 3rd windin is added
