Leakage fields present in the transformer induce eddy
currents in conductors, tanks, channels, bolts etc. and these
eddy currents give rise to stray losses.

in case of transformer, when load is connected to the
secondary winding so flow load current. this altenating
current generate an alternating field around conductor
(winding. when this alternating field cut the conductor or
winding, an e.m.f induced in that winding.this is called
back e.m.f and current is called eddy current(Lenz's Law).
this eddy current is a cause of losses in transromer
winding. so the losses in transformer winding due to eddy
current are called stray losses. these losses also called
eddy losses. these losses are dependent on the frequency of
altenating supply because skin effect is involve in this
case. thes losses are directly propotional to the frequency.
during inrush current (harmonics) thes losses increase
because frequency increase.

Leakage inductance is by itself largely lossless, since energy supplied to its magnetic fields is returned to the supply with the next half-cycle. However, any leakage flux that intercepts nearby conductive materials such as the transformer's support structure will give rise to eddy currents and be converted to heat. There are also radiative losses due to the oscillating magnetic field but these are usually small.this type losses usually known as stray loss in transformer

Stray loss is caused by leakage magnetic flux that induce eddy current and hysteresis loss in nearby metallic structures. This is distinctive from core loss or sometimes called iron loss which is eddy current and hysteresis loss induced by the linkage magnetic flux in the stator iron core itself.

Stray loss is defined as Result Of eddy Currents induced in transformer due to induced Emf
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 9 Yes | 8 No |
stray losses is the total machine losses except total copper loss(field winding, armature wind,tr coils).so it is
hysterisisloss+windage losses+egddycurrent losses
+frictional losses.....etc

Leakage flux in a transformer produces eddy current in the conductors, these eddy current produces losses that is called stray loss of a transformer.
